Joining God’s Work in Rwanda

As we listen to Jesus’ words and allow them to shape and transform us, we join in God’s mission to bring hope, healing, and renewal. During our time in Rwanda, we will:
  • Encourage sponsored children and families spiritually and emotionally.
  • Support local ministry and healthcare partners.
  • Share pediatric physical therapy knowledge and skills.
  • Explore practical mobility solutions that can improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and their families.
  • Strengthen relationships with ministry partners and communities.
  • Be the hands and feet of Christ through service, encouragement, and compassion.
Our desire is to serve alongside the Rwandan people as participants in God’s work of renewing lives and communities.

The Story Behind This Mission

This will be my (Angela’s) fourth trip to Rwanda, and I’m especially excited because my husband, Bradley, will be joining me on his first mission trip. Together, we will represent Apple of His Eye Charity (AHEC) and its ministry partners in Rwanda. It is a privilege to continue witnessing what God is doing through the people of Rwanda and to share that experience with Bradley.

AHEC is a nonprofit organization that serves vulnerable communities in Rwanda and India by bringing the hope of Christ and practical support to those in need. During our trip, we will participate in several ministry projects, including visits with children sponsored through AHEC’s Muzima Program. “Muzima” is a Rwandan word meaning “Come Alive,” and through sponsorship, children receive education, healthcare, basic necessities, and mentoring that help transform their futures. I am especially looking forward to reconnecting with some of the children we sponsor and seeing firsthand how God is at work in their lives.

I’m also excited to return and work alongside Pascal, AHEC’s Rwanda Sponsorship Director, whom I first met four years ago. Through Pascal, I was introduced to Melody, a physiotherapist who serves children with disabilities and their families in a remote village. It was an honor to support her work during my previous visit, and I look forward to once again sharing my skills as a pediatric physical therapist while learning from the incredible work being done locally.

Over the years, I have become increasingly aware of the challenges faced by families raising children with disabilities in Rwanda. One of the greatest barriers is transportation. Many families lack access to mobility equipment and must navigate steep, rugged terrain while carrying children who cannot walk. Recently, I learned about the Cascade Tandem Hiking Cart, an all-terrain mobility device that could significantly improve daily life for children with mobility limitations and the families who care for them. Our hope is to raise funds to purchase one and bring it to Rwanda as a practical tool to increase independence, access, and participation in everyday life.

How Your Support Makes a Difference

We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of the life-changing work God is doing in Rwanda, and we invite you to partner with us through prayer and financial support.
Donated funds will help provide:
  • A Cascade Tandem Hiking Cart (approximately $1,000)
  • Hygiene and nutritional supplies for families and individuals we visit
  • Spiritual literature and ministry resources
  • Pediatric therapy clinic supplies
  • Travel expenses for Bradley and Angela, including airfare, lodging, meals, and in-country transportation
Most importantly, we ask for your prayers—for safe travel, meaningful relationships, opportunities for those we meet to feel Christ, and for God’s continued work in the lives of children, families, ministry leaders, and communities throughout Rwanda.

Thank you for partnering with us. Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support make it possible for us to serve alongside our Rwandan brothers and sisters as together we participate in God’s work of bringing hope, healing, and renewal.
